CBOE Exchange Charts

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) is one of the world’s largest exchange holding companies. They offer top of the line trading solutions and investment products to investors and traders all over the world. The investment products offered by the CBOE range from a diverse range of multiple asset classes including options, futures, exchange-traded products (ETPs), U.S. and European equities, global foreign exchange markets (Forex), and multi-asset volatility products. CBOE VIX Index

The CBOE is at the epicentre of volatility trading and revolutionized investing by offering the world’s first benchmark index used to measure the volatility of the expected future in the markets. This index is known as the CBOE Volatility Index (VIX Index) and is based on options of the S&P 500 Index. The VIX Index is world renowned as the best gauge of US equity market volatility and is the centerpiece of the CBOE’s volatility offerings which includes VIX futures and VIX options.
The VIX Index is calculated by aggregating the weighted prices of the S&P 500 Index (SPX) call and put options. The prices used in these calculations are derived in real-time and are mid-quote prices of the S&P 500 Index. This calculation produces a constant measure of the expected 30-day volatility of the US stock market and is the most widely used measure of volatility on a global basis. The VIX Index is the true innovation that allowed the trading of VIX options and futures to be possible.
