Tel Aviv – 35 Index (TA-35)

The TA-35 Index is the benchmark index of TASE. This index contains 35 of the largest 35 companies listed on TASE. The TA-35 used to be the TA-25 and only contain 25 of Israel’s largest companies. However, this was changed on February 12, 2017. The reason why it was changed to 35 from 25 is because it was believed that this would increase stability. Heightened stability and reduced volatility is something that is often desired by foreign investors. So, the desire to bring in foreign investment was a key motivator for the change. TA-35 companies whose market cap falls can be removed from the index and replaced by other companies.

Tel Aviv-125 Index (TA-125)
The Tel Aviv-125 Index, also known as the TA-125 is an index which is comprised of the 125 companies with the largest market caps listed on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. The TA-125 is one of the most prominent indices in Israel, in addition to the TA-35 Index. However, the TA-125 Index is much more expansive than the TA-35 index, and includes many more companies. So, this index is a good option for investors who want to invest in an Israeli index that includes more than just the top few dozen Israeli companies.
