Banpu Public Company Limited engages in the coal mining and power businesses. The company holds interest in a 1,434 MW coal-fired power plant in Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate, Rayong Province, Thailand. It also manages six coal mines in Kalimantan: and Indominco, Jorong, Kitadin-Embalut, Kitadin-Tundung Mayang, Trubaindo, and Bharinto mines, which produce a range of bituminous and sub-bituminous thermal coals in Indonesia. In addition, the company operates the Gaohe underground mine in Shanxi Province and Hebi mine in Henan Province; and operates and manages three combined heat and power plants with a capacity of 248 megawatts and a steam capacity of 808 tonnes per hour in northern China. Further, it owns nine underground and open-pit coal mines, which supplies thermal and coking coal located in the north and the west of New South Wales, Australia. Additionally, the company engages in coal exploration and mine development of approximately 15 sites of thermal and coking coal deposits in Mongolia. It is involved in the power and steam production, purchase, and trading; provident fund management; solar power generation; and sales and marketing activities. The company also provides mining, and coal mining and trading consultancy services. It primarily serves power plants, cement factories, and other industrial plants. The company was formerly known as Ban Pu Coal Company Limited and changed its name to Banpu Public Company Limited in July 1993. Banpu Public Company Limited was founded in 1983 and is headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand.
